In The Fold

‘In the Fold’ is a fabric line with deliverables consisting of fabric swatches, a catalogue and lookbook, inspired by my surroundings and cultural upbringing. I realized for this collection I could take motifs and natural elements that I see in my daily life and interpret them in an artistic way. I also wanted to blend my background as an interior designer and new career path as a graphic designer to create an artistic package that bridges the skills and knowledge I’ve learned from both worlds.

The scope of the project includes creating the fabric patterns and textile swatches themselves, as well as a full catalogue detailing the collection including photography, typography and fabric information to accompany. All elements come together to create the overall brand identity. There will be four fabric patterns and each pattern will have 4 colour variations. The goal of this project is to present the fabric catalogue in a more artistic and intimate way compared to traditional utilitarian catalogues. The challenge in doing this is making sure the informative aspect of the catalogue is still clear while including the artistic and descriptive elements that make the catalogue visually engaging for the user. The objective is to help make the story and rationale behind the fabric patterns more of a feature and have the catalogue be an artistic accompaniment to the collection.

The colour palette includes a lot of different tones and levels of saturation, however they're all used in a cohesive way that feels grounded and earthy.

Patchwork

Patchwork is a fabric shaped by inheritance—by patterns that existed long before I knew how to name them. Its starting point comes from motifs found in Estonian folk culture.

Intersect

Living in Mississauga means learning to read the city through motion. Intersect began as an attempt to look more closely at this overlooked infrastructure and recognize it as a defining element of the place I grew up.

Floret

Floret is a fabric rooted in ornament, repetition, and cultural continuity. Its inspiration comes from Italian ceramic tiles. In this fabric, I draw from that visual tradition while translating it into my own design language.
